CALL FOR
PAPERS - Full paper Submission
Deadline: 31 March 2011
-EXTENDED till 18 APRIL 2011 |
We would like
to invite you to submit your paper for the
12th International Conference on Environmental Science and
Technology (CEST2011).
The International
Conference on Environmental Science and Technology has been successfully
developing for the last 24 years; in Lesvos (1989 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1997),
Samos (1999), Syros (2001), Limnos (2003), Rhodes (2005), Kos (2007), Chania
(2009); to an important venue in the Mediterranean attracting engineers,
scientists, students, managers and other professionals from many different
countries.
The
success of this biannual conference reflects the critical environmental
topics that are discussed as well as the quality of the presented
papers. All the papers that are selected for either oral or poster
presentation undergo a review process. It should be noted that as a
result of the improving quality of presentations in previous
conferences, the proceedings of the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th CEST have
been included in the major data banks of the international scientific
community, such as
Science Citation Index (ISI),
Chemical Abstracts and
SRCosmos.
Selected papers will also be considered for inclusion in special issues of the "GLOBAL
NEST Journal", "Desalination"
and "Journal
of Hazardous Materials",
after the normal peer review process of the journals.

Abstract

Sessions
already organised... |
-
Climate change and environmental
dynamics (Helmis C., Flocas H., Kotroni V.)
-
Hydrological modelling and
uncertainty analysis (Onof C., Koutsoyiannis D., Lekkas DF.,
Pechlivanidis I.)
Hydrological models are important for a wide range of applications,
including water resources planning, development and management,
flood prediction and design, and coupled systems modelling
including, for example, water quality, hydro-ecology and climate.
This session will aim to improve our fundamental understanding of
existing hydrological systems. In particular, it will focus on the
use of hydrological models to simulate catchment responses and
address methods for estimating predicted uncertainty (e.g.
structural, parameter, and data errors). Presentations are also
invited on model identification methods and diagnostic model
evaluation approaches, which aim to identify where the model fails
and which model aspects need improvement. In addition, the session
will focus on applications where hydrological information is
extrapolated from the available measurements to ungauged locations
and case-studies which aim to assess the impact of change (e.g.
climate and land cover change) on catchment response.
Topics:
-
Hydrological models
-
Model identification and evaluation
-
Prediction in Ungauged Basins
-
Role of uncertainty in model assessment
-
Diagnostic model evaluation
-
Hydrological response under environmental change
-
Sustainable Energy (San Miguel
G., Rincon S., Gomez A., Callejo A.G.)
-
Solid waste
management (Lazaridi K., Payan A.A.)
-
Flood hazard estimation and
mitigation management (Baltas E., Lekkas DF., Evelpidou N.)
-
Occurrence and fate of emerging
contaminants in municipal wastewater treatment systems
(Stasinakis A., Thomaidis N., Mamais D.)
The objective of
this special session is to gather engineers, chemists and utility
managers to discuss this topic and try to answer questions such as:
-
Which mechanisms affect removal of these compounds in WWTSs?
-
How effective are the applied wastewater treatment processes
(conventional and advanced) in elimination of emerging contaminants?
-
Which metabolites are formed during wastewater treatment and the
main analytical challenges?
-
What is the risk for the environment due to the disposal and
reuse of treated wastewater and sludge?
Selected papers from this session will be published to a special
issue of
Journal of Hazardous Materials, after the normal peer review
process of the journal.
•
Analytical Methods for measuring contaminants in biota
•
Levels and trends in wildlife
•
Levels and trends in humans
•
